Just a pat on the back to all of you...

I know many times we just want a quick ..DIRECT...answer to an issue we have on our cars, but, if one takes the time to search and read a few posts in a topic, you find the nuggets you are looking for and often many more.

We are a crowd sourced maintenance unit here with our cars. Thanks to those that post problems and MORE so to those that give the answers and THEN more importantly follow up with what works!

Always post the model year.... and try and use precise wording/descriptions of the issue. That goes a long way also!

(fyi..chasing down an inop pax side lock motor, that in turn was causing some crazy locking gremlins.)

I use Google and always end up on Rennlist through Google. The search feature on this site has never worked as well as Google. Just my opinion.

I use the search function of the site and then click the google search option on the top left. It works very well for me when I am searching.

I often use this from Google.

https://www.google.ca/search?q=site:...:928+oil&cad=h

I only replace the word "oil" with whatever I'm looking for.
You can use single or multiple words.

It works pretty well.
I would say way better than the search fonction here which is not very good.

We should get the mods to make one of these 'search' threads a sticky.

However your search, it's the responses that count, and I for one could not have put >80K miles on mine without them. Thank you all!

Well, regardless of what particular method one uses to search, Tony is absolutely right.

I have searched out countless problems on here. It is pretty rare to have one that:

Hasn't shown up before.
Hasn't been resolved.

This place really rocks!

The Google search string that's always worked for me is:

"site:rennlist.com inurl:928 broken water pump bolt"

The search string does not use the quotes, nor does it need the bold or italic characters, which I used only for explanatory purposes. The bold text is always the same, like a pointer to this forum, and the italic text is what you're looking for, "broken water pump bolt" in this example but it could as easily be "ride height adjustment" or "clutch blue hose".

That said, I've also found the advanced search function on the list quite usable and useful.

Sorry, I took it as a "Captain Obvious" type joke. Must have been something with my mood yesterday, as today to me it reads as you intended. Again, sorry.

No worries mate. And no need to apologize for anything. I didn’t figure you taking me for an a$$ - well, not for that post

I did figure others might though. I wouldn’t want others to think I’m an a$$ by accident.
