Default Measuring 928 rod bearing tolerances with micrometers

Well, the time has come for me to finally start piecing the engine back together in my 5 liter hybrid build and I do not know how to properly measure the bearing clearances using micrometers.

Porsche gives a how to in the WSM using plastigauge but I would much rather use micrometers as they are much more precise.

All of my mics have a .01 mm resolution but are calibrated and accurate down to .001 mm. This includes a lovely Brown and Sharpe inside micrometer that reads 50-65 mm.

I've searched the forum already and could not find a exact set of specifications to refer to. Do any of you know what the measurements are?

The rod journals (if not reground) are 51.971 to 51.99 mm.
The oil clearance is 0.027 to 0.069 mm.
Install the new bearings in the conrod, use old bolts and torque to specs 75 Nm.
Measure the inside diameter of the bearing perpendicular to the parting line.
Measure the rod journal.
The difference is the oil clearance.

Update time. Finally got around to using a very nice Swiss, Brown and Sharpe inside vernier micrometer to measure the bearings mounted inside of the rods.

All torqued to spec BTW.

They all measured from 52.01 to 52.015 mm.

All the rod journals on the crank measured a consistent 51.97 as well.

This gets me an oil clearance of 0.04-0.045 mm which is nicely within spec being a touch on the tighter side.

Now to to assemble the bottom end and order some gasket sets, motor mounts, etc....

Bottom end is now together. I feel like I should have oiled the pistons before putting them in the bores.

Oh well, I oiled the bores and poured some more oil and cranked it over for good measure anyways.

Now for the pictures
