Default Antilock failure

89 928 GT. The antilock light has come on, what may be the first thing to check?

The first thing you can do is check the fuse. #16, 15A.

The second thing would be to borrow a Bosch Hammer or Theo Tool and see if an error code has been stored.

Whereabouts are you located? Someone not too far away might be able to help.

when does the light come on?
when you start the engine?
or after you have started moving?

Thanks Worf, I will check that fuse and advise. I'm located near Toronto, probably not a lot of forum members near me but thanks.

MrMerlin, the light initially came on shortly after I began driving. Now the light comes on as soon as I start the engine.
Cheers

Actually, there's quite a few in the Toronto area.

A bunch of them are going to caravan down to Virginia in May for the Sharks in the Mountains event.

They have get-togethers and fun runs every so often in the summer.

Try changing abs relay. It’s in the fuse box

I've been finding more and more of the relays in the control unit (drivers fender) failing. Get with Roger as he's found a not so astronomically priced alternative than the one from Porsche.

Default relay diagram

I assume your fuse/relay diagram that comes with car in sleeve under wooden foot panel in passenger footwell is gone. You can find M/Y specific for your car at 928gt.com. seek drop down menu at right column of home page.

The two on-ABS-pump relays are not on the fuse panel chart.

Mrmerlin, thanks will test.
SeanR & SteveG, thanks but I do have the original charts from the fuse box. When I get back home from FL I will have a number of tests to make from relay tests to wheel sensors and wiring connections.

Ive gained a ton of ideas from all the suggestions and comments.

Parts heaven has relays made by a German company for really good price. They are in Hayward ca but can ship it to you too. eBay is a good source too.

i have had two failed relays (abs and dme). I think 28 year old electronics fail more often than mechanical parts!
