Registered and room booked.
Curt if you'd like us to "try" and lead another Fun Run email me the map so we know the route before hand. As you well know GPS doesn't work so well in the woods:/

The fun runs will go better this year! There will be staggered departures. The ride captains will be experienced and well-briefed. Attendees will have a choice of three diverse routes, and three noted 928 owners to follow. Box lunches will be provided, avoiding the uncertainties of restaurant wait times - to be enjoyed at a scenic vista. Drivers who get lost will, in most cases, be found within 24 hours.

Jon, I've been thinking of tech sessions. Replacing the PS reservoir would be a good short one, but the hoses seem too ambitious. Your treatment of the leaky shaft of the transaxle will be one, for sure. Several short ones, plus unplanned repairs ought to keep us occupied.
One month to go! The trees are leafing out, I'm putting up siding, and I'm about to paint the wheels of the Unimog. I painted the front loader earlier, but getting a good match for Case Power Yellow is difficult. Non-moving 928s will be quickly dealt with.
Nancy will be making her baked beans again, and box lunches for Saturday will feature subs from the Loon Lake Market. Will anyone drink Genesee Cream Ale if I get it again? Alex?
Registrations are already up to the number we had last year, so there will be more cars than last year, and more characters.

The black flies have arrived on schedule, so they should depart on schedule, before you get here. They're not bad, though - the town pays for BT treatments. Gaywings are carpeting the trail up the mountain out back. The locals are looking forward to being the center of the 928 universe for a weekend. It sure beats the Halloween Pug Parade. By the way, this is a dog-friendly event.
Just ordered the hats.
I could fill up the tech sessions with my car alone, touched by the real experts who will be here. But additional patients would be good - got an idea? It's a multiplex garage - several bite-size sessions will be great.

Hello Curt, I really hope to be there and see you guys again. I could not make it last year since my garage was being built and now there is a chance that I might not make it because I am not done rebuilding my suspension. This Saturday I am getting a BIG helping hand by another rennlister so I can maybe hope to
join you guys this year. Is it too late to register, is there a date limit because I don't want to cause you grief because i am last minute. If so, I will refrain and wait till the year after.

Please come! No one will be turned away! Everyone will get a hat, since I had to order a bunch to get a price break.
There is a minor fee bump coming up on June 1 to encourage early registration. No cutoff dates. Register when you get here. Special off-site parking for minivans and Prius's, if confidentiality is required. Come on a whim! All you need is a sleeping bag. Oh - everyone should bring a lawn chair. Long pants and shirt is a good idea, for warmth and for bugs.

Curt,
I registered for Camp 928 knowing that I can't go (at least this year) but I really like the cap. I PMed 77Tony and asked him if he would get my cap and bring it with him to Third Coast.
You guys have a great time and I hope to catch up with you someday.
Thanks,

Curt,
I had hoped to make again this year with Suzanne, unfortunately I my steering rack is sitting on my work bench and a bunch of home maintenance tasks mean it will not be back in the car until sometime in July, after we get back from our vacation on the west coast. Have fun... and I will really try to make it next year.

I hope all the travelers to SITM are having good luck. At 840 miles, it's a bit outside my own comfort range.
I just posted the routes of the fun runs for this year on the website (link below). We have short, medium and a whopper. The short run goes right into the heart of the major vacation attraction, the Queen of Lakes (Mark Twain) - Lake George, then up Prospect Mountain. This will be the obvious place to enjoy the box lunches we're providing this year. Not obvious, but you go over a divide between here and Lake George - rain water that falls on us passes by Manhattan, while rain in Lake George heads north towards Montreal. As we discussed last year, there is a monument to the 928 valve timing system on top. Thom and Shelly Berkoski will be leading this run.
The medium run heads into thenether regions sublime wilderness of the Adirondack Park, and some wonderfully smooth and nicely curvy roads. Think of your box lunch as survival rations. Dave and Jane Chamberlain will be leading this ride again, same as last year. (I'm suggesting you have your lunch just past the buffalo farm, at a waterfall.)
Jay Kempf designed and will lead the whopper, 133 miles, zig-zagging across a number of roads known for lots of curves and gear-shifting. Will he stop and let you have your lunch? Dunno. At least it's a straight run back down the Funway, I-87, so you can rest your arms.
Each run will depart at a time calculated to get you back to Chestertown and the signature event, the 928 Car Show on the lawn of the Town Hall.
