Ouch. Some people have standards, others have garage space. YMMV.

For Nathan: GB = Greg Brown. RB = Rob Budd. NLA = the twilight zone between adventure and frustration.

I have none of the first, plenty of the second.

All it takes is money. Still waiting for another sample. tick-tock.

I'm sure with enough zeros on the check even Kermit is available. Good that this discussion was started about BJ market for our cars. I'm sure checkbook car collecting is a lot of fun! (nttawwt)

Unfortunately it's an auto, but...
Beautiful Pasha interior, no rub strips, no spoilers, no sunroof, correct wheels and only 48K miles. Reasonable starting price at $29K along with best offer option.

That's a reasonable price, for an auto, and that many miles?

No, that's just wishful thinking.

Maybe, maybe not.

I've talked to the manager at Mancuso a couple of times, almost bought a 1 owner S4 from them last year. He's been dealing with 928's for a while and was rather knowledgeable about them. He isn't just some random used car dealer trying to catch a wave.

A similar conditions 79 5-speed with 67k miles sold for $40k..... an early VIN 78 and automatic with under 50k miles with a $10k price drop isn't unreasonable. It's not like he's asking $100k.

Here's an automatic 84, 40k miles selling for $30k back in 2016:

That's very low mileage for a '78 and the black/blue pasha is very desirable. Early cars in this condition are rare, and in spite of the transmission, I'd say it's a pretty good price. I personally wouldn't pay $10K more for a higher mileage example without pasha just for the manual transmission, but that's me.

How much do you think this is worth?
'78, gas tank is out (new one on the side), new muffler ('78!). Of course, nonrunning.

Large resto project there. Original radio a plus. Been sitting outside so I assume pasha is tissue paper by now. $3K - $5K tops

Rust in lots of places. Not deep rust, but a lot of it.

Leaves speak of 'sitting outside for a long time", which also isn't really good.

Interior looks to be complete, but it will take a lot of work to get this one to "good".
Exterior missing a lot of little stuff. Parts costs will not be cheap (nothing super expensive, but lots of things).

$3k maybe. Maybe not even that.

he does have all the parts to put the car back together. New head and tail lights, brand new muffler and gas tank. Easily $3k in parts. But the cars been sitting out with windows down for a few years but a tarp over it. Smells wet. Would need total restoration about $25-30k easily. I offered $2500 but he’s just letting it sit.

I love minerva blue with blue pascha but he’s ruining an otherwise great restoration candidate.

Hes asking $7-8k but would “give it to me” for $5k since I’m local.

$5K is reasonable for that, needs everything so you're looking at ~$30K all in if you're doing everything yourself. But for an early Minerva '78 with Pascha that looks to be mostly intact, don't obsess about $1K either way on the buy-in. Looks like the rear deck and spare tire well was resprayed (?) Hope the battery box is there somewhere.

Leaves in the battery box kind of spook me. Interior looks really nice, but fabric doesn't like exposure to the elements. As Rob says, once its nice the purchase price will be least expense.
