H3 in projector housing LED/HID/Halogen?
The previous owner replaced the stock headlights with projector housings. They currently have H3 55w bulbs, but the output is very poor. I'd like to upgrade to something useful. Also, they are wired to only work as low beams, maybe I'll look into fixing that at a later date.
What is my best option for replacing the bulbs? A higher wattage H3? H3 LED? H3 HID? or ???
What wattage, lumens, etc, should I use?

Please post a picture - your best option may be to junk them - are they branded?
They may be OK - but cheap crap will always be cheap crap regardless what bulbs you put in - so best to evaluate first - it's always mainly about the optics

Brett what is the text embossed on the lens? - any manufacturer details? Interesting that there are 2 projectors per side but you say they are both configured for low beam. Seems there could be one projector mounted with a higher beam position. Are these projector beams designed with a sharp cut off? Its possible they are actually both really high beams without a cutoff (lots of people seem to have no idea...)
Aslo Is there a max wattage listed?

If I turn on high beams, they all go out, including the 2 in the bumper. I'll try to figure out the wiring.

I think it may be best to replace these with proper projector headlamps of a good brand with a nice cutoff on low beam and a nice long projection for high beam. If you get high power LED versions you should be able to run both together for high beam and still be below stock wattages. It's a cool looking conversion - it should have the lights to match.

I'm by no means an expert (at all...) but since you have projectors that you can measure, Morimoto's website is well-laid out and has dimensional specs on their projector housings, so you can at least see what should fit.

They sell universal HID kits and now I believed they now have LED Kits
I used their Morimoto Bi-Xenon HOID kit in my last Honda Ridgeline. Check them out.

By the way, I dug up a discussion I had with the original owner, Marcus, where I had asked him what parts he used for that headlight conversion, he said they were RX7 parts. (He also said it was not difficult, someone just needs to know how to weld aluminum.) He didn't say just the motors were RX7, so I suspect the headlight covers also. If the covers are also RX7, then based on their shape and some internet pictures, I would say they are from a 1st Generation RX7 (1978-1984/5).
It probably goes without saying, but just beware of the guy who stole this car once already, as detailed here:

I've read a bit about the theft and recovery of the car, and talked to Marcus some, too. It's interesting to follow the thread about the recovery. I'm so glad that interior was replaced, it was f'in hideous!
