Default As I encounter things...some questions

After searching I found the antenna, which for some reason was attached to the top of the windshield, should come off fairly easily if it wasn't epoxied. What about the box (picture attached) it's right behind the rear view mirror on the other side of the antenna, I assume it has something to do with the original phone that was in the car. The mike for the phone is hanging on about a 1/2 inch wire at the very top of the drivers A pillar. Also, what is the circular container with a filter in it directly behind and in the center of the radiator (picture also attached). I'm assuming it has something to do with the interior air? Where do I find a replacement filter?
Thanks for any replies.

spray some PB blaster on the phone mounts, let it sit , then take a razor blade and gently work around the edges till it comes off ,
its glued onto the window. Hot sun will also make things easier
The center filter is for the air pump, your 928 supplier will have these, Roger comes to mind

Follow all that wiring up, and you might find it all leads back to a box hooked into power supply under the dash, which will probably have some 'inventive' second rate connections. Rip that out too.

The microphone wire likely goes down the A pillar to that box under the dash. Take the A pillar cover off to allow you to remove that.

Radio and phone 'installers' usually do ****ty work.

Thanks Stan...Dave, is that not the factory set up? Codes for the car indicate a factory phone. I'm almost afraid to start removing "stuff" as not to screw something else up. That box behind the rear view mirror is ugly.

I would cut the mic wire, dont mess with taking off the A pillar trim,
the wire may pull out the bottom otherwise,
cut it and tuck into the pillar

Was assuming it was aftermarket from the ugly antennae mounting and cable routing, but if your option shows it then maybe that's the way they did it. Certainly no harm in just removing antennae and microphone, and leaving anything else. I removed everything in my GTS because it was clearly aftermarket, and had dodgy scotchlock and taped up electrical connections.

Dave, I think I'll do it step by step, first thing is to unplug the large cable to the box. If that doesn't set off any bells and whistles, I'll remove the box. Then I'll snip that cable close enough to were it's tucked to be able to hide it. The mic isn't that big a deal. Losing the antenna, that ugly box and cable would be a victory. Thanks for all the thoughts!!
