Correct regulator?
Hi All Again
I am still trying to get my euro 1984 4.7 M28/22 to run correctly as at the moment it runs very very rich. Foolishly I had some fuel rails made in order to avoid using older fuel injectors or expensive new ones. I matched up some Ford injectors with the correct flow rate 249cc @ 3 bar & 16 ohms. I installed a dampner on one of the rails and thought my issue was a faulty fuel regulator, (a friend gave me a cheap Chinese one).
I have just purchased and installed a Aeromotive ARO 13136 set to 2 bar and it still runs really rich.
I have installed a rebuilt MAF and had the ECU tested by ElektronicRepair (Thanks Richard).
The engine has been rebuilt & ran rich on the old set up ( two regulators, dampner and the Bosch injectors).
I have tested the old regulators and dampner with a vacuum tester and they hold a vacuum, I have a gauge on the fuel regulator and tested the fuel pressure with a separate gauge.
The only thing I have yet to do is put a scope on the injectors to see if they are shorting. As the ECU has been tested has anyone else seen a wiring fault causing the injectors to run constantly if that is my issue. ?
Thanks again
Glen

Hi Glen,
Your car runs two fuel pressure regulators - one on the left and one on the right at the rear of the fuel rails under the air filter box. My 86 S2 ran extremely rich and it was a combination of failure of both FPR's and the front damper coupled with bad injectors.
The two FPR's are the same 928 110 198 01 and the damper is 928 110 202 00.
Hope that helps.
Roger

Thanks Roger for your reply, I am trying ti avoid replacing all of the original components as I have gone with a revised setup. I am going to attach a test line from the blanked spigot of the new fuel regulator and measure a new injector flow rate against the OEM injector into a beaker to see if the injectors I was supplied with match their specifications. If they match I will have to replace new setup with OEM.
If that's the case are you able to supply the original type of injectors (Bosch 0280150252) ?

Injectors are mostly NLA or stupid expensive. I sell a set of more modern Bosch 4 hole Design II injectors with GB adapters to fit the original fuel rails.

Based on your report Your injectors are for the later S4 not the early 16V Euro.
This could have damaged the drivers in the computer.
