I think that this car was a factory special car, used to test the colors and material.
Note that this is a 1989 S4, in Amethyst with the Amethyst interior also. As this color wasn't in production at this time, they had to cover every parts in leather.

A friend of mine owns a sister car of this car. His is a 1990 GT. I believe that his car is the first Horizon blue (L37X) painted and Cobaltblue interior 928.

Wow. I love it! Looks like it is original to me judging by the leather pieces and how they were stitched.

I like it, but it is a lot of Purple, maybe better w/ a different exterior color, it is unique I have to say.
Also unique is no Rear AC in an S4

Thanks for posting this,

Dave

In Europe, I think that is the opposite if the USA on the subject of the rear AC. Cars with it are much more rare than without.

The purple is a bit strong, but , IMHO, doesnt clash with the rest of the interior. Not clear if the cargo cover is leather. Apart from colour (mine is white), I can just top that for coverage - as well as seats, dash, console, pod, roof, sun visors, doors, steering wheel etc in leather, I have a leather covered horn push, and the cargo cover is leather, complete with large white zip. The carpets and lower edges of the doors are black carpet. The wheels are also white from the factory - see page 110 of Brian Long. The invoice says 'Leather to Sample', for DM4100 (as best I can read the faded dot-matrix print) - tourist pick up arrangement.
