Bertrand, I'm jelly over that new -looking diagnostic port cover!
How did you find such a good example?
I've been looking for years for a NOS unit, even lurked on some of the 944 sites, but never came across one.
Mr. Toft, good to see you back in the game -- I trust the move went well...

Might be doable.
Its pretty rare that this particular switch triggers the cool down fans, in my experience, here just cruising around in the cars in normal mid-Atlantic climate. Here, my 84's and 86's never run more than a shade above 1st white line on temp gauge.
I had an 85 car with some partially blocked injectors that caused it to run significantly on the hot side. The switch would trigger the fan on that car after shutdown pretty frequently. The temp gage was always above mid level, often higher. Eventually, after suffering for a year with the odd behavior I changed the injectors and it never again ran above the 1st white line.

Dave, sorry but what part you're talking about?
Diagnostic port cover? Where is it in the pic?

It's what I have always called (probably wrongly) the cover that goes over the plug that is used to jump the idle control on the S3.
AFAIK, its unobtainable. I believe it was also used on the 944 at one point.
I ended up fabricating a stand in until I could find a suitable replacement...

I can't find it for the temperature switch but found 9 Ft lbs for the Temp II sensor.
If I remember well, they are both the same (thread) size.
