Default Vacuum lines

Happy Christmas everybody!

Quick question: does anybody have advice on replacing the original vacuumlines on a '79 manual? I am in the process of getting my engine out and these things snap while removing them. Is there a kitt? Or just use "general" vacuum lines? I looked for measurements of these things, but i can't really find the measurements?

Best thing you can probably do is contact Roger at 928srus.com and more than likely he will be able to put together a bag of bits to suit your specific needs.

It's fairly standard cloth covered vacuum hose. You can find it at any good VW restoration parts supplier or Roger as suggested above.

Or- you can go to colored silicone hoses - and there are kits - with multiple sizes - you cut to the length needed

Thanks for now ordered 3meters of cloth wrapped line at a local VW shop. Will look into the kits if this does not do the job...thx everybody!

I just made my own up a few years ago, with appropriate silicone vacuum tubing of the right sizes, just measured the stubs the old line was removed from and ordered appropriately.
These new lines made a massive difference to the way the car performs.

I like the kit from Roger, nylon hard lines and MB rubber junctions, all assembled and ready to go.

Would advise against those. They leak hydrocarbons badly, and things look dirty soon.

Its like the worst substance to use for hoses.

I personally would upgrade to black viton hoses as they will last the lifetime of the car and are probably the best substance to use for hoses.

Only issue is it is expensive compared to other materials.

I also send Roger an email, probably the best for my engine...Keep it original.
