When i bought the car i took the 928 to a good porsche service, and did what was not done before, at that time i was not able to do anything on the car . In the final list there were new chains and pads, also oil check valves and valve cover gasket set. So for the moment valve covers stay there. Oil plates? If you means oil neck baffle, there is a GB one inside, that made a big difference in oil consumption. If you mean other stuff, please tell me what i can do, wiait.

Ok, I removed the intake.
A mouse nest, nut shells, cracked knock sensors, a vacuum hose leaking (a small cut), idle valve was dirty like s*it.... An average intake refresh, i believe. There is a slight film of oil inside the throttle body, the plenum and inlet port is full of dirt...pictures :

some drop of oil and thin oil film every where. Is it normal for a gts?

Intake ports are cover ed with dirt,i think it is the oil that e tu in burnt until i put Gb baffle...

Pretty much what can be expected upon inlet manifold removal. Get those inlet tracts plugged ASAP if you have not done so already.

Franc

Those clips should be available from a good auto electrical shop or auto parts store.

I was checking everything to be ok, and i was doping a list of parts ti buy before reassembly. I noticed that a plastic bushing on throttle assembly lever is completely missing on my car. Look at the picture

White grey bushing at the center
Anyone knows if it is for sale as single part and part number? Thank you

Keep in mind that if you had the injectors cleaned a year ago they are plugged up by now. You need to clean them again before installing them for most injectors ( so I understand) are cleaned using a water based solvent and they oxidize within weeks of cleaning.

I think your is a wise idea to take them again to the Bosch service center, while i am waiting ... Inlet manifold is not powder coated, yet, and i haven't found that plastic bushing for throttle lever....

bump, for dimensions of that plastic bushings.

The man at the shop doing powder coatings asked me if there is a right temperature for baking alluminium/magnesium intake and the optimum temperature for coating, it can play a bit with temperature and won't ruin the intake. HE does sometimes Lancia and Abarth magnesium stuff, and owners recommend lower temperatures.

Thanks
Francesco

I believe a particular challenge for magnesium castings is they are more likely to be porous, leading to lots of pinholes in the coating from outgassing. I think powder coaters may often do a burnout run, to reduce volatiles in the pores. I don't think they have a lot of leeway on coating temperature, but they should probably cheat in the cold direction.
