If the answer is Black, is it Matte/Flat Black or gloss black.
If they started black, the have been polished to a dirty stainless look.
I have a few variations of high temperature paint (1,000 degrees), that should be ok to use, don't you think?

My MY 1993 GTS 5-spd has matt black tips. My MY 1989 S4 5-spd has a single matt black tip. Thus I think you are safe to assume that the tips would be matt black. High temp paint should be more than adequate. Make sure you "key" the tips so that the new paint has something to adhere to.

Charlie, best I can tell on my 91 GT they are more gloss or semi gloss, not flat black. see in picture.

The brand news that I have installed on my CS around 1999 were gloss black.

I would say semi gloss black
had to say what heat and age have done
