...and there's no hole in the center of the bottom? If there's a hole in the bottom that's all that's supposed to be there. The tapered seat at the bottom seals with a complimentary seat in the caliper so when you tighten the bleed screw down, the two surfaces mating together don't let fluid come up through the hole and out. Loosening it then let's fluid enter the hole at the bottom and come up through.

nope! no hole in the bottom. unicorn or bearded lady??? I replaced it with a used one I had in storage
and that one, like all the others had 2 holes 180' out from each other, above the taper of the tip on the flat spot.
