Default Motor mounts

I finally got around to changing the motor mounts in my 89. I discovered that one of the PO's put in a set of solid mounts. They looked squished, but in fact were 1/2 inch shorter than the mounts I got from Roger, for my 87 that was totaled before I could use them. They've been sitting in the box, for 6 years, hope they're gonna hold up. I don't suppose being in storage, has any detrimental affect on them.

Any way I had to use my Sawzall to cut the threaded stud off one of the mounts, on the cross member. Damn thing kept turning, cheap POS. Plus the fingers were below the cross member.

It got dark, so I'll finish up tomorrow.

Has any one else come across any solid mounts that are shorter than the stock mounts for our cars?

Seems like I recall that the Ford mounts that are or were usable in the 928 needed about a 3/16 inch spacer to have them reach the correct height.

Thanks Jerry. There were a couple of washers stacked under the lock washers, and nuts top and under side of the cross member. These things were solid rubber, still looked new, just too short.

They're gone now.

As in: the round file?

I hope so.

6 years of storage would have been just about right for the tail end of the collapse-after-5-or-so-minutes look-solid-but-are-hollow cheap indian-made (IIRC) ford motor mount saga.

Roger now sells the motor mounts from the Volvo XC series. No Ford mounts for a long, long time.

I have the Volvo mounts in my car now. The solid rubber short one's is what was in the car, when we put the supercharger in my car Jeff. I had the Volvo mounts in a box from Roger, just never used them. They're fine, engine is back up where it's supposed to be.
