Vancouver / Seattle bound in January!!
The wife and I are headed to Vancouver & Seattle from January 19 - 29 for her birthday.
Jan 19 - Land in Vancouver @ 10PM PST
Jan 24 - Concert in Vancouver
Jan 25 - Concert in Seattle
Jan 29 - Fly home
I'm still researching places to stay, not 100% sure what the plan is other than the two concerts (which this trip is obviously centered around).
I thought it would be fun to organize a gathering in each city, simple lunch or dinner somewhere to meet some of ye'all.
I'll be without a 928, unless someone wants to loan us one for a few days!

I am up for a Seattle meet up. Lots of great areas to stay in and around this town. Once you know where you are staying we (the Seattle 928 folks) can suggest some places to meet for some grub.
You guys are more than welcome to use my 928 for your get around town car while you are here. Seriously it wouldn't be an issue.

Trying to figure that out. Not sure if I should target the tourist areas and stay near Pikes Market / Key Arena or stay up in Ballard or Fremont and be closer to the nigh life I know we will enjoy.
Vintage stores & breweries will consume a few days......... I'm sure these are tough to find in Seattle!
That's awfully generous of you, but so far I've been told by many people the last thing we want to do is drive around Seattle!
This is one of those trips where the Uber fees will probably end up being more than a rental car would have been......
I think it would be more fun to take your FJ up into the mountains
Studying the map, if we were arriving during warmer months, a drive out to someplace like Neah Bay looks like fun.

Yep Ballard and Freemont are definitely cool neighborhoods, Freemont moreso in my opinion. It still has a little of that 90's grunge feel whereas Ballard has gentrified a bunch but still has a lot of great bars and restaurants. If you guys are going to Uber actually both neighborhoods are practically next to each other so either on provides easy access to the other. Look into Belltown if you are considering staying within walking distance of Pikes Market. Nice upscale part of the city with lots of great pubs and restaurants. If you really want to dip youself into the counter culture, then stay in Capitol Hill. Well at least visit there one night.
Driving around Seattle is no more difficult than any big city but definitely easier to Lyft or Uber. We are over in West Seattle. Not crowded at all over here. If you guys do decide that you want to take a drive somewhere, like checking out the San Jauns by ferry or Mt. Rainer or somewhere outside of town the offer stll stands to use the 928. Your back will thank you over the FJ.

Sounds like a PNW 928 gathering to me! Are you flying out of Seattle or Vancouver?
What concerts?

Thanks Nate - any info will help narrow this down. Normally our vacations include a lot of exploring around via the rental car. Since this trip it seems we will stay more urban, I'm liking the idea of never having to find a parking spot!!!
Again, thanks for the offer of the car. We'll see how the weather plays out closer to the date and maybe put together a drive, that would be fun!!
Sweet! I just sent a PM to Shane, haven't seen that guy in almost 10 years..... way too long.
It will be awesome to see you guys again, and on your home turf for once!
Into Vancouver, then out of Seattle. In-between I plan to rent a car on the 23rd and maybe spend that day aimlessly roaming around Vancouver, then drive to Seattle and surrender the car.
Both nights, Queens of the Stone Age (we just saw them in Milwaukee a few weeks ago & going to see them again in May in Madison)
Here is Lorelei with Josh Homme - the lead singer - back in 2014 in Chicago. This photo was taken well after midnight.........

My wife and I stayed in Vancouver at:
Pan Pacific Vancouver
Fairmont Pacific Rim
Both were great. The view of the water from the Pan Pacific was quite nice.
Check out the Observatory at Grouse Mountain for dinner. Incredible dining experience.

Vancouver's central city is, by design, pedestrian-oriented ... brutal traffic, no freeways and nowhere to park. Last time there I cried a little after spotting an S4 stuck in a big traffic jam.
Downtown or Coal Harbor are my two favorite areas to stay. If time permits catch the free bus over to Capilano Park and try out the suspension bridge https://www.capbridge.com/

Don't forget the sewers. Modestly interesting history of Seattle.

Be sure to see the SR-71, and the Concorde. Two pretty strange planes.

Whistler would be on my list of things to do. That's if you're a skier or border.
