Rob shot this at GB shop on Friday. This is the engine that goes into my red car. Listening to it in this video I think I might start hanging out at Pomona Drag strip.

A couple of the BRAAAAPs hurt my ears. You can't see me smiling in the video.

That's going to be one hell of an engine.
Interested in all the specs, as always!
If it's a 6.5L stroker with S3 heads, valves, cams, and intake that's combined with headers that have about 1.5" inside diameter for the first 12 or so inches, it's going to make tire shredding torque at low end and a bunch of power at the top end. Prepare for a very fast car.

It'll sound better and make more torque with collectors, so don't run it like that. But even just open collectors could be an interesting conversation at the smog check station, I presume?

And it's going to a nice home (compartment?) - Almost a shame to hide all this handiwork with an engine but I suppose it has to be done.
'Scuse the lousy cell phone pics:
Note the reinforced swaybar brackets. Take it easy, Van.

"Why the hell do I do this?
"The insanity of building custom engines."
Available on Amazon, as soon as I actually finish this Bitch (with a capitol "B".)
It's basically a primer for all would be engine builders, explaining in detail how wrong one engine build can go and how much time and money one can loose building custom one off engines.
The current chapter is: "65 year old man with terrible back pain, peeing blood, installing an engine on Sunday. Why would he do this?"

You can read all about it, in my new book:

It sounds interesting, I'll certainly order an electronic copy when it goes up on Amazon. In the end, a lot of things that people do don't have good explanations. Like, for example, why did my wife just throw a three (3) day birthday party for a nine-year old? Sometimes, it's better to not ask the question why, either from the wifey or from oneself.
Do these headers have the same specs as the S3 headers you had on that other 5.0L S3 a couple years ago, or bigger ones? Because I really liked the ones you posted back then. Those with the relatively small primary diameter that about matched the 38mm exhaust port on the S3 heads. I feel (don't know) that those could really make high overlap cams work like a supercharger, on the basis that the velocity in the primary is going to carry on at high level all the way to the overlap period. The long runner (50cm from valve to trumpet) dual plane intake would in my opinion complement high overlap cams as well.

"jake, take Van's car to get aligned. and DONT spin the tires.... in any gear......"
"awwwwww man......... (takes keys and mopes walking away"
cars going to be insane. Van's in for a treat. it is a fright train on wheels.

Basically the same design pipes, with larger pipe sizing because of the engine and valve sizes. In my own warped "little world of engine theory", I used some anti-reversionary techniques in the exhaust to "help" the cylinders from back filling.
You are probably enough of a gearhead to understand what I did.

Maybe it will keep me from converting my 89 to running a Miller cycle combustion with a roots style supercharger one day.
Back on topic, your car's engine sounds great Van. Can't wait to see it in person at SITP next year hopefully. And if not, at Rennsport Reunion for sure!
