Proper procedure for t/o arm ball cup install
I'm reinstalling the clutch assembly on a 82. What is the sequence to install a new plastic ball cup? Look's like cup on stud first then position arm over cup when reinstalling. Not sure.

what you posted is the correct sequence.
heat the bushing up in hot water prior to installing it .
NOTE test fit the new bushing into the release arm,
the cup might need cleaning .
NOTE before you put the bushing onto the ball you can add some DC111
NOTE make sure that 3 spacers are installed on the PP so the release arm will have the freedom to slide on the bushing

Thanks Stan, What three spacers? I only see 1 thrust washer,1 snap ring and a concave washer.
Thanks

I know what you mean. Unload the pp with the 4mm wire around the rivets.

I just did that procedure a couple months ago on my 83. I put the white plastic bushing into the throw out arm first, installed the whole clutch assembly, then went up top and popped the arm/bushing onto the bellhousing ball with a long prybar. Went right on. Put a little white grease in bushing before that for lube, excess pushed out small hole in back of arm. I don`t remember any of that bushing /snap ring stuff. I was installing a 79 trans/clutch into an 83. Maybe the difference??

putting the bushing into the arm first then trying to press it onto the ball can snap off the ball .
Seen this happen, then you have to drop the bell housing and remove whats left.
heat bushing ,
press onto the ball, with DC111.
NOTE if you use grease the petro chems will cause the bushing to fall apart .
then slide the arm over the bushing
