Well, for another $0.02...
I'm on a laptop, and I didn't like the changes.
Once I figured out how, I changed my settings to put it back. Once that was done, it was mostly back to the "old way." There's now an ad between any post I make and the ones above, but that's about it. I am not a paid member, and I don't run ad block.
I haven't had any problems with it changing itself to the new format.
This is, by a huge margin, the best place I've found for 928s. Pelican is a pale shadow of this place, and FB is a freaking joke.
I'm not going anywhere.

I come off as harsh sometimes. The thing is that one of my sticking points is the crosssection of the fact that technology is here and has been for a bit yet in general I think people still think of it from the wrong perspective.
It will always change.
There have much more helpful comments since mine. It’s a setting and you would need to make sure the browser in use knows to present this page with that setting on.
It may also be important to point out that RL will occasionally just forget you and you have to log back in and possibly replace the settings.
Managing this expectations may reduce some frustration.

And no where else, even for Other Marques, has the kind of depth this place does. MB world is where I go for e55 stuff and it’s rediculous. Posts about wheels and “do I have to replace this 14 year old seal”

Very strange responses all over this site to the changes.
I assume it’s the same old men who complained when Microsoft ditched XP and then again when win7 stopped being licensed.
Software, by design, is a changing amorphous entity. Sure, what they are done with this forum UX is a bit strange but this may not even be them but the VB underneath.
Change is the only constant.

It was pretty easy to 'fix" my browser back to the style I was familiar with... BUT....
The thing I will always complain bitterly and miserably about is how images disappear from older posts. I looked up GB's AC line post from 2014 and the images are already gone. Give me a break. I would GLADLY pay an extra amount in my membership so the Alien Overlords could go pick up a jump drive at Best Buy or an egg sac or however it is that internet geniuses store image files. I hate that part of RL.

This is 100% outside of the control of IB. When that thread was made, the OP used a 3rd party to host those photos which changed their policy with free hosting.
I haven't tested it, but I've seen a plug-in for Chrome and possibly FireFox to fix it.

so, I assume people upload their images to photobucket and then "send" the image from PB to RL? I always just load a jpeg from my laptop... So I didn't understand the issue. Thanks.

On RL, I've just been adding as attachments. No more PB for me.

e.g. to use in "technical articles" linked off the front page which rip off content with poor levels of attribution to actual content writers/photographers (our esteemed 928 brethren)
(I'm talking about the "How To" section.. here https://rennlist.com/how-tos/c/porsche-928-37639/ )

The advantage of inserting a link is that you can put text between the images, loading jpegs as attachments, just adds them after all your text. As an example of links, Dwaynes tutorial threads have linked images at the appropriate places throughout the lengthy text.
Edit: As Hilton correctly points out, you also retain control of your IP if you link to an external server.
