This is the original steering wheel from my '87 S4. The car (and wheel) has 210K miles, but it's still in good shape. There is some stitching that is starting to come apart (see pictures) but it has not changed in the 2+ years I have owned the car, so I don't think it's going to suddenly fall apart.
The extended hub option is a relatively uncommon factory option that positions the wheel ~30mm closer to the driver. This seems to benefit tall drivers the most since it allows you to move the seat farther back without having an excessive reach to the wheel.
From what I have read here on Rennlist, this should fit all non-airbag 928s.
