Default pulling 4 speed auto, stuck on torque tube.

Looking for advice,, I removed the pinch bolt and the four big torque tube bolts and can only get the tranny separated about two inches and no more, Is there another pinch bolt that I'm missing or is it just rust? Car is an 83 auto..

spray some PB blaster into the driveshaft joint
Warning dont bend the TT to trans as this will bend the driveshaft.
if you get the TT separated more than a half an inch then you can turn the tube and spray the PB from the top.

Thank you so very much Mrmerlin. Great people like you on this site are Really a great help to everyone. I've sprayed penetrating oil on it like you said and will let it sit for a day or two. Please move to Arizona!!!

Be careful with the shaft, make sure to support the TT while you are waiting for the penetrating oil to work.

If the PB Blaster doesn’t work, make you own fluid with 50/50 acetone and trans fluid.

May sound like a stupid question but ..Is the trans and tube out of the car on the ground or still in the car? Reason I asked is..Trans will only move rearward about 2 inches before it hits battery box and/ or fuel tank behind it.

Is the car on jack stands or a lift? Reason I'm asking is I pulled my Tranny with my 89 on my lift, and used a 2 stage transmission jack, plus I made the plate for my jack as described in the service manual.

The suspension has to be lowered first, per Dean Fuller's video, which is is detailed and a fantastic resource! Then the tranny will slide back and off the torque tube. I used a 2x2 block of wood to support the torque tube, once the tranny was disconnected, it raised back up off the block.

It's a time consuming job, but not that difficult, provided you have the right equipment.

To all that replied to my plea,a big thanks.. I have the tranny on a harbor freight tranny jack with the car up on jack stands. the rear cross member is out and I was able to get all the bolts out and the trans back about two inches before it got stuck. By removing front and rear cross braces was able to lower it all down just enough to clear every thing. The TT is supported with a floor jack in front of the pinch bolt access hole. The only thing causing trbl is sliding tranny off the drive shaft itself. I'm letting the coupler soak with PB blaster for a day or two per Mrmerlin's suggestion. Will update when I get this thing off. Thanks again..

just an update on tranny pulling saga. It's out and on the floor!! Thanks to Mrmerlin for the hint with PB blaster. That sucker was really rusted on the splines but a lot prying and cursing finally got it off. Used most of a can of blaster and soaked it for two days. I would recommend anyone doing
this job might want to soak the shaft days before starting. also The cheap harbor freight tranny jack is really not the best..get something better. Thanks to all who replied to to my plea for help.
