I still have a brick with your name on it, Farris...
Besides, I like it down the rabbit hole. Cheshire Cat keeps me company.

If ya manage to buy one like mine, it'll burn up money like it's addicted to crack cocaine!

Burning Brakes
When I first bought my 91 it needed some loving. It started when I broke the torque tube going to SITM. I got towed up there and needless to say it did not get fixed so it was towed back home. I sent the torque tube to Constantine to get fixed correctly, and then proceeded to do a top end refresh.
So my first few months of ownership I got a taste of some repairs. Ever since then I buy spare parts when I see a great deal, and then have them for when I need to do things.
my buddy Ron in NC has a spare car that use for parts when we really need them.
I am addicted to these cars and love them.

Having to explain to three women that the two back seats really don't work that well and you can take two if they agree to double up...

Right there with ya! Greg Brown driveshaft, Super-bearings, front pump reseal, TC seal replacement & of course all the ATF hoses. Along with drilling and tapping the torque converter due to the others backing out and getting shredded..

Seemingly small issues in the beginning of your first 928 ownership can prove to be a true “right of passage” I remember my first 928..1981 USA 5 speed bought in 1989...in a metallic gray color I rarely see anymore. Within the first few days, some immediate “easy” fixes needed to happen, among them were some inoperable tail lights and tag lights.
I’d fixed many a failed tail light in many other cars..bulbs or connections usually. After some test light work in the 928 tail light showed no power to the socket, I started digging for the connector. Got to be behind this tool panel...right? A minute later you realize it’s behind that quarter panel, that’s trapped behind the rear seat bolts, that are allen heads, in a weird spot.
As I worked through the allen head bolts with the wrong tools, I contemplated the fact that I had to remove the rear seat to fix a tail light...I wasn’t too happy about it. A few nights later (the days of a full time job and all that) I had both tail lights working and moved on to the tag lights. Seems someone had the bumper off and forgot to plug them in, and the bumper had to come off again...now how does this bumper attach? *&$#$#&*
Keep in mind this was “pre-internet” and the availability on information was limited. The “right of passage” part was still liking the car enough to carry on with it after these “easy” fixes turned into much larger jobs than I expected. They left me with a looming sense of the unknown complexity that I was facing to keep it all going...but I was under the 928 spell and forged ahead. In retrespect some non working tail lights were preparing me for future projects like clutch masters, water pumps, brake boosters, LH, CIS, ac evaporators, clutches, and...well you all know the massive list.
No tail lights... my “right of passage”
