Window down, motor works, transmission not working
 

Tried to roll up my window yesterday. Window tried to go up, but the door panel started to bulge in a crazy way. I panicked and pushed the button down and heard a clunk.

I opened up the door panel this afternoon and found the motor works. The large toothed gear of the window transmission can be seen to move normally. The window is down and doesn't move at all.

How do I attack this problem?

I managed to get the window up, and held into position with a clamp. I removed the transmission.

Looks like things are badly bent....
 

PET doesn't show any odd angles, and I don't recall things looking like that last time I was in the door on my '90.....

Something must have seized / jammed, and subsequently bent the arm. You may be able to straighten it out, but I would just order a used replacement and once you're sure what caused the issue and it's corrected, reassemble and carry on......

Yeah. That's not supposed to be bent at all and I'm having a hard time figuring out how it got that way. Something else inside the door is missing, broken or bent. Whatever that is, it allowed the window to twist on the lifter guide tube so that it got bound in the door. My bet would be one the the bushings for the guide tube finally gave up.

You need some expert eyes on all the 'door parts.'

I'm surprised that the lifter bent before either a) the glass shattered or b) the glass got pushed through the door.

Have dealt with this, although the arm was not bent in such an extreme fashion. You will need to replace both "slides" and the "roller" so identified in PET on the page Rob posted, and straighten the arm. Check the felts WYAIT, and see what you can find in the bottom of the door, usually interesting from an archaeological point of view... :) Oh, and renew the plastic shield if necessary.
