AC AUX FAN AC DELETE ELECTRIC FAN for COOLING
I am doing an AC smog delete and also want to see if I can simply use my AC/AUX fan to cool the car and remove belt driven fan. I see 928 Motorsports has a better fan for reasonable to replace the AC/AUX fan.

Leave the aux fan in place as it is mostly controlled by a temp sensor on the radiator. You can also replace it with a 16 inch Spal push fan (what Carl sells), just swap the leads in the connector to match up with the 928's stock wiring.
Carl already does the connector swap for you and includes the mounting brackets at a price in line with every other retailer that sells those fans like Summit Racing etc.
You can add a fan in place of the original belt driven fan in the form of a Lincoln MK VIII fan with a PWM fan controller (fits in the stock shroud with spacers).
This thing moves over 3000 CFM and is one of the most powerful fans ever put into a stock car.
Or just do what many others have done and stick in a set of V6 Ford Contour fans which has been well documented here and works quite well.

I put in a SPAL assembly of 2 x 11" fans in a shroud with blow-open flaps for when you are moving. Works fine for me in ambients to 100F. I have a modified switch unit (forget the setting- there are MANY out there in M22x1.5) using the std leads to trigger the std relay, and the second relay is fired by the first one. Part no is 30102052. A few years ago I got a unit for close to $200. Almost inaudible inside, but you can see the current drain on the alternator.
I tried Carl's large fan, couldnt cut it. Some people sell Spal units speced at 3000cfm, but when you read the SPAL specs they warn that this model is only suitable for racing, and not as well sealed as the lower spec units.

Dan did a great write up to this upgrade a few years ago with nice pics. Just wondering if people have good luck with the latest fan controller, DC controls (Derale now).

I am thinking of upgrading my '78 restomod to this set up when I get to it.

if you're not opposed to a PULLER fan the 928 radiator is the perfect size (~24x17) for the monster e-fan from a mid-2000s Volvo S60.
i ran one on my 944 for a few years - the thing would blow a breeze to the back bumper, it was so strong.
i removed the PWM box (the little grey metal box) and just 2-wired the motor (+ and -) off a relay.
trim off the arms and make some brackets to hang it from the core.
if you happen to be in Socal i have a complete such assembly you can have for free.

I did the air pump and belt driven fan delete a few years back.
Used the dual Ford Concours fan and shroud from a parts yard for $25 and now use a digital fan controller made by Hayden bought at Oriellys for ~$100 to run those fans.
I deleted the front side Aux cooling / AC fan as the dual electrics behind the radiator both come on when AC is switched on and do a great job.
The Concours fan shroud sits snugly inside the lip of the stock radiator and covers the entire surface. I modified the stock upper fan shroud to retain the factory air tube mounting.
Since installing the digital fan controller I have had a constant mid range engine temp even in central Texas summers and no power supply issues as the fans soft start.
