Service Covers
What are y'all doing for service covers for your 928?
Pelican Parts has a set for $109. Anyone have them? |
Those are "universal" service covers. While they may work, they aren't nearly as elegant as the Colgan-manufactured service covers specific to the 928. Ping Roger on these. He was working with Colgan's "replacement" company IIRC to have some made a while ago. Or post a WTB for a set of pre-owned covers.
The Colgan set has fender covers with hard reinforcing panels sandwiched between the HD vinyl top surface and the fuzzy paint-side material. Padded hooks reach around the edges of each fender and fenderwall to hold the covers in place. Perfect for protecting the aluminum "wings", and for sure a lot better than any generic/universal set I've seen. There's a separate front apron section that includes padded hooks that hold on to the headlight crossbar so the cover can drape over the bumper shell. The three sections overlap nicely for a complete coverage solution as you work. These covers are definitely worth searching out if you spend any time hovering over the engine bay with tools in your hands. |
Itoolio, you REALLY want the Colgan's service covers!
I bought a set of Colgan's from a non-928 source on the internet in April of 2016 in preparation for buying the Red Witch. Here, I found them: https://www.ecklers.com/porsche/colg...FQvD_BwE#close Do not pass GO, Do not collect $200. Order these covers NOW! |
Bought a set from Roger and couldn't be happier. Highly recommend them.

Bought them from Roger, years ago. He'll announce a sale price every so often. Get a set from him, they're fantastic, and they fit the car.
