Dual Disc balancing, best practices?
So , replacing bolt on starter gear on the 79, due to chewed up by a reman bosch. Have IMI to replace.
WSM, and RL posts strongly suggest to rebalance, so called local porsche indy shop, who referred me to their machine shop. Called over and was told they are familiar and can do the process.
Shop will surface and balance main flywheel then bolt to intermediate plate and balance whole package. So that is taken care of. Now question is how together to bring them clutch flywheel pack?
1) Remove clutch arm? I would assume so...
2) Remove and keep at home Both fiber discs? good condition and of course they have the orange and white marks to install 180 deg of each other when get clutch pack back.
Wanted to avoid taking apart intermediate to remove 2nd disc as it is set up and shifts perfect. But ya have to do what you have to do...
Any insight, tips to pass on would be great! Thanks!
