I'm refurbing a 86.5 and am chasing down the vac leaks and this same condition. I have my original ISV and have the LOWE (talking with Roger and will keep him updated on this) installed now. Mine was sitting at about 1200-1500 and then jumps to 1900-2000 and stays there when warm. I'm waiting on a few parts I know are suspect.

Please advise.

The S3 ISV is the bane of my existence. Possibly I'm being unkind and it's not actually at fault, but I'm not convinced. I've put in maybe four different ones, from different sources (all looked pretty much identical). Exactly one of them resulted in normal idle behavior, which is why I keep thinking it's an ISV issue (otherwise why did it work with that one?) but after a month or so, I suddenly had an intermittent very low idle along with off-throttle stalling, and the valve was "sticky" when I took it out...you could move it back and forth with your finger and feel it catch. The other ones all seem to be doing what they're supposed to do, they just seem to control idle at that too high point (1200-1500 in the current state).

Edit: I didn't realize I had posted on this thread before. In any case, it's all still true...
