Default Holy cow - rear shift coupler totally stuck on the shaft

Tried heat

Tried soaking it in Pblaster

Tried giving it some taps won't a hammer.

Still totally stuck.

Wondering if making a relief cut with a body saw would help?

Other ideas?

Thanks!

If the grub screw is out, I'd give it a go with the saw and a chisel.

Leverage is your friend.

Put the bushings and the pin back in it. Hook it back up to the shifter shaft (from the gearshift lever) and tighten down the bolt for the clamp.

Obviously leave the tapered pin out....

Use the gearshift lever to move it back and forth on the transmission shift shaft, while gently pulling to the rear.

Hi Greg - thanks for the note and the tip.

I finally got it off after heating it up again. It just came right off with zero force.

It looks, and this is a highly technical term here, gooey inside where the shaft enters it so I think it was installed with some soft of adhesive that the heat finally worked free.

Thanks again gentlemen!

Oops - forgot to ask: clean shaft the a light amount of anti-seize on it before coupler goes back on?

Thanks!

glad that turned out better than mine. I ended up having to drop the transmission to get the damn thing off. The screw was stripped.

Thanks for the responses, put some anti-seize on it and reinstalled.

Sorry to hear that fraggle.
