UPDATE:

Green wire, fuel ignition relay, and new cap/rotor in. Did a 30 minute drive today (kept it short because it's about 110 out today)

Car is much happier, and drives much better. I believe green wire.
However, as I was merging onto the onramp on my way home, did it again. Was able to get it started while I was slowing down, and then ran without a hiccup all the way home. No voltage drops, no warning lights, tach/speedo/all guages stayed true, and radio didn't even flip off.

That being said, I did a brand new wiring harness, but I am going to do new wiring around the alternator and items as well. See what I can see.

I'm going to heed the advice of above and do ignition switch I guess. I did rattle the key earlier when it was running and not a peep.
I honestly don't think that is the problem, I'm sure it's some small little bug somewhere, I just don't know what it is. I guess I'll keep at stuff like this and see if it magically makes it better.

My experience is the let brains fail diabolically, that is, with random pattern, like flipping a switch. Then after a minute, or a month, will work again, only to fail again soon. The previous wisdom has been they rarely fail, but based on recent years posts of others and my own experience, those symptoms can easily equate to the brain reaching end of life cycle. In fact, mine checked out ok during review the first time it was tested. Then failed completely while i stood watching it run on the driveway. Big output transistors. Mine is finally diagnosed, repaired , and in the mail headed to me. A 928 guy in Arizona rebuilt it for me.....

My son in law suffered the random shut downs on his commute one too many times and asked me to come get this car out of his sight. I've struggled with diagnosis for years.

Well, I just so happen to live in AZ and would love to have mine rebuilt, because I'm pretty darn sure that is my idle problem as well. You wouldn't happen to have the contact info for this person would you?

Or any source to get the L-jet brain rebuilt?

Rich Andrade rebuilds them in Arizona. Company is Electronik Repair, inc. He just rebuilt my MAF and LH for my 1991 GT.

Rich was immensely helpful in driving to my house to let me use a "known good" L-jet box, and it solved my hesitation problem without a doubt. however It still died on me a few times in the trip around the block- when I got home, I opened the hood, and just started wiggling wires to see if I could get something- and I wiggled my temp II sensor connector- and the car died. After starting it back up, I could move it, and it would die, and then hold it down and it would catch itself and fire back up.
I replaced the connector and all is well. Thank you all for your help- if every car had a support group like 928's, it would be a great time.
