Decided to remove trans and diff due to noises I don’t like. I purchased from junkyard and car had 100,000 miles on it and was said to be fine prior to accident. I got talked out of sending it out for rebuild and now doing what I thought I should have done to begin with. Shipping out to RPM for rebuild and to change diff from 3:43 to 3:73 ratio for the size of tires. Engine RPM should be around 1,850 at 70mph.
I felt vibration in the torque tube and put a feeler gauge on the the shaft, not sure if this is the correct way to measure, but it showed about fifty thousandths out.
Not going to put everything back in until sorted out......really sucks yanking everything apart when I was so close.

Built new rear piece for speakers and battery shutoff switch. Since I deleted the wiper, I made the panel without the pop out.

It really sucks when the ghosts in the machine show up AFTER you do the first run.

The TT/Trans in the vette are loud. Quite loud, surprisingly. In the C7 they went to a steel tube instead of aluminum - I think it got louder.

As I seem to having a flare of OCD today, I think that dial gauge is marked in hundreths of a mm, so .49 mm = 0.019". Now I'll go take my meds.

What sort of noises was the gearbox making? Tired synchro crunchy noises?

When Rob's OCD flares, we all benefit.

Rob.....you have issues :, but are correct. Regardless, I have reloaded the pallet, after 2 hours building a structure to send to RPM....there is no way I am putting everything back in the car without knowing everything is correct.
‘Second gear would grind from first to second and third to second. The trans made the “can of marbles” noise as others reported. I have read that the trans makes noise, I have been around the block a few times with other trans and have never heard the grumbling noises or the sever vibration at low rpm before.
At least when I get everything back fresh, I know what I am dealing with.

Mocked up splitter/spoiler .....lots to do still. Have to make skid plate to wrap the Intercooler tube and rebuild stock grill to fit. Not 100% set on design, still tweaking.

Lance, Sorry to here of your recent trans/diff woes^^ Splitter/spoiler^^appears to be of form & functionality to these eyes. Presume it would be a cakewalk to fab a second Are you thinking about a rear spoiler to...you know balance things out ? T

Tony......you make me laugh.
I had to make it in two pieces.....my brake isn’t long enough to put the bend in it. I did make a aluminum template, if you want a duplicate. Problem is I welded tabs on the bottom side along the cross member where the radiator sets, in order to secure the long center section between the fenders, so not a direct bolt on. The sides bolt in the same location as the plastic bumper to supports.
The only reason I am building the spoiler is to tie in the protection to the inner cooler tube. I like the clean look without the front spoiler.

I have not given any consideration to a rear spoiler......I guess I will just wait and see if I need to do something.

Who are you kidding....a slick and subtle additon up front that will force feed more air through the now smaller openings created by the absent of the lower "S" type spoiler. I have not given any consideration to a rear spoiler......I guess I will just wait and see if I need to do something. Porsche has typically added front & rear spoilers to there higher performance vehicles for a reason. Early prototype 928 rear spoilers presumably for what was to come later. T

I some what like the simply look of the spoiler on the early proto type picture. The spoiler you made looks very nice, but looks more NASCAR than Porsche. Looks like the issue is how to incorporate the hatch lock into the spoiler so the spoiler can move down more.

Could you angle the grill slats upwards to direct more air to the upper section of the IC?

The opening is the same as stock, if anything slightly larger....I think the grill is more decorative than directional, but I will be putting them back almost in the same manner. The bend in the spoiler should force more air upward into the opening. I also, have twin spal fans pulling the air in and everything is sealed to pull the air through the inter-cooler / A/C cooler & Radiator.

Yeah that spoiler^^came off another car and we were mocking it up to see what it looked like on the car. Plan was and might still be to cut into it mimicking the look of the prototype spoiler. Like the look of the prototype spoiler and the way it stays within the width of the hatch. Look forward to seeing what you come up with if your plan on fabricating one...or two T

Trimmed more off the spoiler and fabricated the skid plate for the inter cooler tube. The skid plate has around 4" clearance and the stock rubber spoiler has 5 1/2".....no doubt very low and will have to be careful.
Painted the bottom side of spoiler and skid plate with bed linear and will paint the top and leading edge of spoiler the same color as the car.
