Some Help Removing Drivers Window Motor
Hi,
I have a 91 928 with a dead drivers side power window. The door panel has been removed and I have power going to the motor so I know all is good there.
What I'm trying to figure out is, can I remove the entire motor off the regulator while its still in the door? I did search but didn't come up with what I'm looking for. I did see you can take part of the motor out but I want the entire unit out so I can bench test it. Thanks

Maybe just me but I've found it is easier to support the Window and remove the entire regulator with motor still attached.
Use Vice Grip pliers on the round Aluminum guide shaft (Protect the soft shaft with rubber or leather) to hold the window glass up and IIRC it's four #10mm bolts.
Usually you will need to clean and re-grease it all anyway.

I prefer removing just the motor - as long as you are sure its an electrical issue with the motor.

Thanks guys for the info and links. I thought I read the bolts holding the motor on were on the back side of the door? I will first try removing just the motor if that doesn't work I'll pull the regulator.
If I can't repair the motor I'm I able to just buy the motor separately? This is for the drivers side. Thanks

Agree to just remove the motor. I've done this job numerous times, and in fact need to get back in and do it now on Blumaxx.
As to the motor replacement, yes, you can just get that separately. I get used ones from 928 International, and they work just fine and last like a new one, but at a fraction of the price.
Note, you can repair them. There are threads showing them disassembled and repaired. I have done this too, and it is easy. Take it apart, clean it out real good, re-lube and assemble. Bench test and install. Most of the devices on these old Porsches are repairable, so don't just throw away and buy new. Explore the part first, and see what you can do.
