Long studs on the red car
Here is something I hadn't thought of.
Jake discovered this. The car came with the normal 16" manholes and had factory spacers. Now we had to use 17" wheels in order to clear the front GTS calipers and rotors. I'm wondering if JC Whitney makes something that I can bolt onto the studs that stick out 10 inches or so....hum.

Or just put on open lugs then the factory lugs on top, that's what I did on my 85 when I had the 9" speedlines.
Sorry I can't find a pick with them on.

Van, I would do what adam suggests, but I would first put the open steel nuts on, then I would cut the ball nose off the bottom of an alloy set and screw the hex head part of those nuts onto the exposed studs. You should be able to turn them down as might be needed to have them screw all the way to the crown of the cap nuts.
Having the longer studs in the hubs is, in my opinion, a worthwhile benefit in the long run, particularly when you find the need to put different wheels on that require spacers.

Then I reread you first post and see that you are looking for something that will stick out about 10 inches. That is quite a ways out; but I did see an 18 wheeler truck last weekend that had some kind of chrome lug nuts or nut decorations on its front wheels that stuck out at least 6 inches. They looked very aggressive and menacing. I'm not sure just how that look might turn out on a 928.

Lol. 10" lug covers.
Here are 4.5" spikes. Not real sure what that would look like on a 928...

Hopefully. if the creek don't rise we will have the car at Werks in the concours section. The car appears to being complete and GB is building the motor this weekend. I think the judges will appreciate the spikes. But the wire wheel suggestion is killer!
