The latest Laso I have been selling for the last few years has by far the lowest failure rate of the water pumps that I sell/have sold. At less than 0.25% not perfect but pretty darn good based on the large volume we/others sell.
The only failures I have seen are the warning from the weep hole and as far as I know I have not seen any seizing on these later pumps.

Laso is letting the 928 water pump market go due to low volumes of sales for both the early and late pumps. So choices will be limited even more in the future. I am trying my best to change their mind.
If you want a plastic impeller it will be Ed's pump or the Porsche.

Question: Does this Laso Pump look modified in any way?

Hard to tell as the pivot arm post is still in the WP. What is your point Kent?

FWIW, here's a new (circa 2009) metal impeller Laso, front and back:

Thanks Rob

Roger, I was doing a little reading and I came across this thread.

If pumps are converted, how can you tell?

Can you elaborate?

Thanks in advance

I sent two Laso pumps with leaks back to the wholesalers to try and get some recompense but both were well out of warranty time wise and one was modified so both were rejected.
I then sent them to Germany to Laso. One was a modified pump - machined from an early to late configuration - and was immediately rejected because it was modified. Out of warranty and modified did not help I am sure. I am waiting on the verdict of the second one.
As I do not have the pumps in front of me I can't tell which is Kent's and which is not.
Unfortunately I think I am flogging a dead horse as Laso have all but removed themselves from the 928 WP market.

The earlier pump had a spigot that accommodated the idler roller. This was machined to accept the later tensioner post.

Thanks for the feed back, I hope they will warranty (3yr old) unmodified low millage pump like mine.

Was a way to repurpose early pump cores where the spigot broke off when someone pried off the idler roller .....literally

You will be the luckiest guy on Rennlist if they do. No one will warranty a water pump for that long no matter the miles.

Been there done that......then paid a welder to build up the snapped off spigot and re machined it to fit a new roller. Sold the car with that pump a few years ago.
