Dash

Anyone know where I can get a 924 dash?

924RACR 09-04-2006 09:59 AM

You mean new? No.

Best result is recover one; second best would be to use a plastic dash cap ($80 vs. $400+)... That's what I'm using, for now anyway...

New would be nice, what kind of a dash cover should I look for though.

I got mine from either Perf. Products or Tweeks, can't remember...

try e-bay. you will get a cheaper deal.

I think the biggest issue with a dash cover in this guy's case is that he has a Champ. Edition car and IIRC the dash in those is grey? I don't recall ever seeing a grey plastic dash cover so it might be tough. I think a black one would look poor since the door panels also have grey tops/black bottom.

Is this the case jimsmartinirossi?

jimsmartinirossi 10-05-2006 05:02 PM

Yup, you hit the nail on the head. The dash would fit but since mine is grey the black wont work.

So I would say either a grey fabric cover (carpet) or get a black plastic cover and paint to match. If you do the paint thing I would recommend you take a sample to an auto paint supply and have them match it. I would add some flex agent to the mix too. They may even be able to make you an aerosol can of the paint mixed with the flex agent.

You can also have your dash redone at Just Dashes but be prepared it will run you a pretty penny (read $1000). It will be better than new from what I've heard and they will match the color exactly.

Maybe you could buy a black one and leave it out in the sun for a summer??? :icon107:

I bet in addition to significant fade you would get some sweet mountain range like warping. Then maybe you could use it as a backdrop for your model train set. Spray it with that fake snow in a can stuff, and maybe some low grade astro turf for the foothills. :burnout:

You could buy a black one and use VHT spray dye on it. Thats similar to what someone else said about painting it, but the spray is an actual dye. I used their gray on a BMW dash a couple of years ago and it came out looking great.

C'mon guys, this is too easy... Just buy the black interior cap for $75. Then take it to an interior shop who will paint it (for $50) to match exactly, and install it (for $25) for you to make sure it fits perfect and is installed correctly. That is what I did, except I painted the lower half of the dash to match the cap (not the other way around -- in my case my lower half came in "linen" which was in horrible condition, which I really wanted to be in black). So, for $150 TOTAL investment, my horribly cracked (top half) and decomposing (lower half) dash now looks entirely BRAND FRIGGIN' NEW. How cool is that?

01gt eibach thats what Iam gonna do. just have the guy do it and only be out $150, cant beat that! Awesome thanks guys.
