Should I have Special Edition 1987 or 1988 coin
According to this site: http://porsche944celebrationedition.weebly.com/
EU versions had 1987 coin and US versions had 1988 coin, unless 1987 coin presented there is from other limited version. My Zermatt Silber car is 1 of 100 Celebration Edition produced for West Germany, it has been produced in 1988 as all of CE, so that does not make any sense to me that any of M757(Celebration Edition) had 1987 coin.
Can anybody clarify? I am searching for a coin to buy, but I want a correct one.

Your German issue Jubilee/Celebration car was built most likely in 1987 when all the 944s, 924s, and 911s were made for the celebration.
Since the Euro calendar year cars seem to go by registering and production dates as the model year made, the medallions contained the '87 date.
North American cars may have been delivered and registered in '87, but still go by the 1988 m.y. designation, since we call ours cars out by model year differently than Europeans; thus our medallion had no year on them in some examples, but in most I have seen, had 1988 on the medallion. Case in point: my Jubilee 944 was built in Aug. '87 but is still considered a 1988 model year car. It has the original Medallion and two brochures; the medallion is marked 1988 and the brochures have print dates in the summer of 1987.
Your Euro car for your home country should have the '87 date on it. A missing date on a medallion would mean it was intended for a North American bound 944 just as the 1988 marked medallions meant the same.
All items are hard to source and I have seen ridiculous 'asking' prices on all of them. 911 Medallions are made in a greater number as more cars were issued, but there is the typical 911 'fervor' associated with those cars and affects the pricing the same way.
Best wishes locating any of this stuff .... it's only going to get tougher in the days ahead.

Thank you very much!
Just would like to be sure, vin of my car is WP0ZZZ94ZJN420226, J - 1988, but it means that it probably was produced in September 1987, as they have vacation in August and they produced Celebration Edition from July to September as far as I remember, so still I should look for 1987 coin. If I am wrong please correct me, thanks.

Does anyone have a photo of such a coin? A search on the internet shows both the 1987 and 1988 944 coins, and a 1988 924S coin, but I did not see any without a date on it. I have some doubts that the North America cars got their coins!

All Special Edition Models (911,944, 924s) for 1988 had the date on the coin - just looking at the brochure that came with my car (and the coin)

2 coins for sale on ebay. Why the seller didn't list them separately is beyond me.

I saw this auction (and bid) shortly after I made my inquiring post above. As excited as I was to be in at $13, I also knew I had just started up a discussion on a well traveled board (here) and somebody certainly would follow my steps and reveal. For those of you hard core 88 collectors, here it is. Lets see how much they are worth!

I have an alert on ebay for when these pop up, but I think the days of finding a celebration medallion for a reasonable price on there are over.
I hate that mine did not come with one, my search continues...

I think anything under $250 would be worth it. Seriously. It is a big part of what made these models unique. It is a story that people tell and a bit they show off when people look at the car.

It would certainly be worth it for resale to have the complete package, but I have a lot of other things to spend $250 on with my car for now. Will be interested to see what this auction goes to.

Sold for $ 285....
The complete set from $ 799 set has already been advertized several times on Ebay in the last 5 months. I assume the seller thinks that the coins are made of gold..
