1984 Porsche 944 Help

Hey all

where in TX...we have a lot of folks scattered around that big ol place.

that said, you are fine to tension the timing belt so that you can twist it 90 degrees between your thumb and finger along the longest (upper) span. the balance belt is done similarly but 180 degrees.

Right, I should've been more specific. I'm hanging out over in Lubbock right now while I go to school. Okay great, I had read that on the Clark's Garage page (http://www.clarks-garage.com/shop-manual/eng-10.htm), but his disclaimer about it being "very risky" was a bit dissuading on it. Good to know that is a way that works fine though.

Damn, I was driving through Lubbock last weekend, would have swung by with my Arnnworx tools if you had posted this a week ago. I'm in Houston but if you can drive it down I can give you a hand. I recommend you also get a new front main seal and an oil pump drive collar, it'll add about $50 to your bottom line but is good preventative maintenance against oil leaks from that area.

Small world! I love that if I got a flight to Houston and back it would be cheaper than buying the normal tool outright. I'll keep the oil pump/drive collar in mind! I picked the wrong car for saving money :P

I flew to Amarillo last weekend to pick up a Subie and it was almost $400....fml.

If you can drive it down, bring me some beer and pizza and I'll do it, and show you what to do next time.

LOL that's outrageous. Man, if I had the means to get there we would be hanging out pretty soon! If you're ever my way feel free to say hi!

Amarillo is my hometown . My family settled the panhandle. Ever hear of Charles Goodnight, my great uncle?
