Default 944 Power steering rack

Hi Ive a 84 8v 944.
NA.
Power steering shows play when moving the wheels when jacked up.
Slight play causes a shudder when cornering hard.
Is it the rack or tie rod ends?
How to check/diagnose?

Sounds like something is loose/worn. It could be a symptom of the inner tie rod ends, outer tie rod ends, steering shaft u-joints, control arm ball joints, caster mounts, strut tower mounts, the shock shaft itself, or even wheel bearings.

You'll have to jack the front end up and carefully check each component for the play.
