Default Locking Gas Caps: Are they keyed to the ignition key, or a different key?

My 89 S2 didn't come with a stock cap, so I got a used one (red, OEM) off Ebay. It came with its own key, but reading the manual, it says these caps were keyed to the ignition key. Did Porsche provide spare keys just for the gas cap? Or were these spares also valet keys? Has anyone had one of these rekeyed?

It's just "Key", innit?

Supposed to be One Key to Rule Them All, I thought.. unless a lock cylinder somewhere got replaced along the way.

When you buy a new stock locking cap it comes with it's own key and tumbler.

Any locksmith can rekey the tumbler to match your ignition key.

Cylinders are easy enough to rekey yourself, all you need is enough spare tumblers and patience.
[I say that only having done door handles, ignitions, etc... but I'm not sure why the gas cap would be any different, same type of cylinder.]
