Classic 9 Upholstery NLA
Based on a phone conversation yesterday with Robert Budd, it appears they will no longer offer upholstery services for the 944/968 cars.
Truly a shame as I had dropped in on his shop earlier this year to check out his work first hand and had sent a couple of items to him to get started.
Now the hunt is on to find another credible quality upholsterer for my 968 projects.
Damn.

years ago i inquired about a 944 carpet kit with money in hand but was informed they stopped offering it due to lack of demand.
i would imagine that's the case here as well. i can think of only maybe 2-3 people over the years who have at least showed off their C9 interior work around here...

Too bad. But cars need to get reupholstered from time to time so somebody else will have to do it.
Can't wait to get to that part. Burgundy all the way.

I think the main issue is that a correct interior restoration may cost more than the car is worth, or at least a few grand (dash, new seat upholstery, carpeting, etc,). The last major item I wish to address is the cracked dash but at $1,500.00 plus shipping (Just Dashes), I'm going to wait a while.

Wow, glad I got in the door when they did mine about a year ago. The only other reputable vendor I've heard of for early dash restoration is Werk 924. It's a little more than Classic 9 but it's more true to the original dash, versus a reupholstery (where the original is vacuum formed vinyl-ish stuff)

Dammit. So much for the C9 black leather dash with red stitching that would have looked dynamite in my GR S2. It was inching its way up the list of items to address.
These things had to be built to order anyway, so I don't get why they needed to be 'discontinued'.

Exactly, unless Rob is out of the Porsche upholstery business why just stop the 944 items, everything is custom made at his shop anyway, it's not like he keeps inventory of 944 items.

There is a UK-based eBay seller that produces leather kits for 944s. I have their shift boot and a cover kit for the center console and they're pretty decent quality for the price, not anywhere near C9, of course, but entirely presentable.
They have recover kits for RHD dashes but I believe there was a member here who was able to order one for LHD. They also have leather available for door panels, the rear quarters, header panel, A-pillars, e-brake handle, etc., so you could potentially still get basically a full leather interior.

^^I got a LHD leather cover from "top gaiters" in UK, I don't think they're around anymore or they changed names. It's beautiful...I haven't installed it though. I got the center vent/speaker thing deleted too.

Yeah, that's them. I think they changed names. I still have some of their same products on my watch list. They are apparently now "j-f-customs."

I'll try to remember to document the install when I get around to it.
