I need help with 964 brakes
A guy on eBay had a set of front 993 calipers listed for sale ,so I bought them to make a Big Brake kit for my 87 944 Turbo. Well, I got them today and they are 964 front brakes and look like the same front calipers on my 951. Can I use them as upgraded rear brakes or should I just return them? I don't know much about mixing brakes from different cars. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks, Kevin

what are the piston sizes?
double check the mounting hole spacing - 911 front brakes for a long time were 76mm (3") but the 951 brakes are 95mm (3.75").
the 4-piston 964 rear brakes "should be" 95mm.
fun fact, very early 2wd 964 had opposed 2-piston brakes with 95mm spacing too.

The spacing between center to center of the side mounting bolt holes is 95mm and the length of the body is 210mm. So they are basically 944 Turbo front brakes or 964 front brakes. Can they be used on the rear of a 951 or just send them back?

You need to measure the piston diameter to know if they are any good for the rear.
The 944T rear calipers look the same as the front ones (and the 964/928 ones) but the pistons are TINY to maintain appropriate rear brake bias.

The pistons were something like one was 30mm and the other was 35mm. Something like that. I'm just sending them back. I thought I was getting front 993 calipers
