Don't it let it cause you too much concern. Pull the locating pins that are easy and don't worry about it. When your block gets here we will try to remove the ones you leave, and if we cannot get them out, we mark them to be sealed with wax before they are dipped. No worries.
What about the lower crank studs? Do those need to come out? I'm guessing yes - but want to get confirmation.
Thanks,

You can have the one damaged cylinder bored then steel sleeved to 100mm. Kuhn Racing or Performance also preps a 944 block and sends it out for Nikasil plating for $800

"any old piston" not necessarily meaning an "old" piston but generic say SBChevy or whatever brand off the shelf piston, fitted with Nikasil-compatible rings.
Seems to me if you're getting the block coated/bored you may as well go "big"...

Wrist pin offsets can be a problem when swapping in SBC pistons into a Porsche block. Other than that, yes, this is an ideal time to go up in bore size and grab some HP.

928 Motorsport did my block. The larger steel pieces were pulled by them, including the main studs, but not the balance shaft cover locating pins or OPRV sleeve. I haven't checked bore to piston clearance as of yet...I do need to obtain new locating pins for the bellhousing, and have been unable to locate them in PET, however. Anyone got a pt.# on these? I may have to make some up on my own.

From experience its cheaper and easier to sleeve the block order JE or Diamond pistons. Then rebore or coat cylinders. LA sleeves are cheap any good shop can install them. To do my 2.5 block was 60.00 a hole to install and bore and hone to finish size . The JE pistons rings and pins were 650.00. Diamond setup was a bit more at 780.00 but that was with hard anodized ring lands and thermal crown and skirt coatings. Still with rings and pins.

I know that Alusil sleeves are available. I have to go on the German Yahoo, but I have seen them advertised reading German websites. I'll try to track down a seller. The original German company that made Alusil makes them, the trick is finding who sells them
