New 944 Turbo wastegate design for the top bulb

I'm listing a brand new rebuildable part for the 944 Turbo wastegate spring and diaphragm housing (bulb / bell). This is a 100% bolt on part for the stock wastegate. Did you ever wonder why Porsche made the 930's wastegate able to be opened up so you can change the spring and diaphragm, but the 944's is tamper proof? Because they new the potential of the 944 Turbo as early as 1984 and they didn't want it to out perform the 911 turbo. Even when the WG for the 951 was brand new the spring was too weak to hold the valve closed at mid to high rpms. It's called boost creep. The higher the rpm, the more boost leaks out of the valve that can't be held shut by the lousy spring. The pictures are of the prototype. They will come standard with an 11 pound spring, but you can get any spring strength your heart desires. No more sending off your WG to be modified for $430 plus being charged ten bucks for every broken bolt stud. No $300 core charge. This can be run single port like stock or dual port. I will update the colors as soon as I hear from 9 Products. The price will be $199.98. You remove the stock WG or try changing tops while it's mounted. Not sure if it can be done or not. Unscrew the valve with an allen key, bolt the new top on, use an allen key to press the spring down through the top hole, screw the valve back in and you are basically done. Now you won't be losing boost at 4000 rpms and above. Shoot me an IM if interested. Thanks, Kevin Anderson

:thumbup:Hello,
I would be interested the conversion parts with variable spring rates , I rebuild quite of few 944 turbos and it would be nice to have an affordable bolt on up grade . dp951 Miami Lake Fl.

Very nice product.

That is just the prototype. The real one will be anodized and much better looking. Now people won't have to buy adapter plates to use an expensive aftermarket WG or have those 2 bolt flanges welded on. The 944 Turbo's WG is built very well. It's just that darn spring was too weak from day one. So with a new strong spring and diaphragm plus dual port connections, it will be just like the 930's WG, but just a little better. The price being in the $200 area is excellent. To tell you the truth, I would buy it even if looked exactly like the protype. I wonder if the 930's WG would fit on a 951. It's common knowledge that Porsche uses the same parts on different models. I know the 924 GTR used the WG from the 930. What I don't understand is that the air flow meter, wide open, lets in enough air to make a maximum os 340 HP. The 944 GTR made well over 500 HP and the 968 Turbo RS was detuned down to 350 HP. So both cars used an air flow meter above what is physicall possible for the air to get sucked through the square shaped intake. Is it the racing fuel that made the difference? In Panorama this month there was a story about the 968 Turbo RS race car. A picture clearly shows a stock 951 intercooler with the narrow end tank and an airflow meter. Does anyone know if Porsche was able to port a larger opening in the AFM? I always heard that the narrow end tank on the entry side of the IC, but it was used in the 968 that at times made 390 to 400HP. I guess the better duct work that vented out of the front of the hood / bonnet, really improved it

David, where to you get your front splitters? They look awesome. I mean the whole car looks awesome

DONT LAUGH I MAKE THEM IN MY BACK YARD :D Ive been working a new one for my 968 T build so that the edge with come closer to the flares ( still tweeking it ):banghead:

KEVIN ANDERSON 02-21-2017 09:18 PM

That's awesome! How did you make the mold? I know it's possible to use a 996 splitter from eBay and screw it in where the bat wing goes. I just got samples sent to me by a plastics company of 1/4 inch black ABS plastic and I was just going to try and make a flat one like on Broadfoot's site

HMMM a couiple ways u can attack .
One make and shape a cardboard cut out or thin wood then cover in tin foil then pva it , ( then lay the glass on your shape then you can add the pieces with more card board to add to that shape. you can also add body filler to aid in the design . But for thickness you just layer the wood or cardboard then shape that for the mold .

Second buy the green foam in blocks and start cutting and sanding away to achieve desired shape ( a mess) then cover with foil then spray pva then glass it .
3 rd buy the automotive modeling clay $$ , shape it to your desired form, then foil then pva ...I use foil to further protect my initial mold, the better the mold the nicer the finished product.

PVA is the release agent .

Pm if you like so we dont take up the waste gate build thread

Question
The springs and replacement Diaphragms are they a part you carry or are they going to ba a universal brand installed in your bell design. dp951

KEVIN ANDERSON 02-24-2017 11:41 PM

Yes we will put in a new diaphragm and the standard spring will be 11 pounds, but you can ask for any spring rate you want

Porvair 02-25-2017 09:03 AM

Damn - timing is everything. I just installed a 38mm Tial on my 951. This looks like a much more elegant solution.

KEVIN ANDERSON 02-25-2017 10:04 AM

Timing is everything. There was a group buy for a new cam gear 2 months ago which filled up fast. My group buy isn't going as fast as I thought it would. This modification is going to be so much cheaper and easier to install for the wastegate.

KEVIN ANDERSON 02-25-2017 10:08 AM

You've got a really good looking 951

KEVIN ANDERSON 02-25-2017 10:16 AM

David, I bought a sheet of 1/4 inch 24" by 68" black ABS plastic. With heat it can be shaped. I was going to try to make a splitter like the one Broadfoot Racing sells where it can attach all the way back to the cross beam that the bottom plate attaches to. It will mostly be a flat splitter installed between the bumper and batwing. Do you think it's a sound design or should I make the curved lips like your splitters

KEVIN ANDERSON 02-25-2017 10:18 AM

Or maybe installed under the bat wing
