944 Headlights in LED
2 Attachment(s)
Your Thoughts on LED headlights for 944?
|
I would think the 2nd ones would be better than the 1st.
I have "light bars" of similar design to the 1st set on my 944 behind the bumper currently...they are great "spot lights" but not very good for actual head lights (limited spread of light) do you have a link for the 2nd? i tried searching ebay but there are millions of results |
Looking good there. anyone have a suggestion for an LED driving light for the early 8 valve cars? I'll probably change mine over after I get it running again.. Baby steps..baby steps..

I really like the idea of LED head lights. I often find my stock lights woefully lacking on dark country roads. Second image looks very similar to some aftermarket jeep wrangler headlights?

^^headlight harness and "E-code" headlight lenses will go a long way to improving your headlights.
hotter bulbs (80/100w) even more so. as far as the LED...they are the same lights as the "jeep" parts...the seller just added a 944 photo behind it to catch your attention. 944 takes the same 7" round headlight as lots of Jeeps, trucks, big cars, etc. |

Should have seen that coming. :P Thanks! |
I think any of these headlights 7" will fit the 944, I assume the H4 plug will fit right in?

Harnesses and relays should not be needed if you go to lower-wattage LED bulbs. I am running LED H4s in my 4runner, they are quite good. I am running fanless bulbs with a heat sink sticking out back which might not work in a 944 due to the pop-up action but the ones with the flexible copper braid heatsinks might.
You'd want good E-code lenses too. |
The harness is good because the factory wiring runs ALL the current through the headlight switch in the dash.
Such a long run of thin wire means that your 13+ volt battery maybe puts 10-11 volts at the headlights themselves. Also...LED lights (all the ones I've seen, including the "drop in replacement bulbs" are god-awful in color for use as headlights. I bought one of the LED drop-ins to try on my Subaru and they didn't put any light out at all - just 2 splotches of light rather than an even spread. Believe it or not, the slightly yellow color of halogen bulbs is the easiest for the human eye to make sense of for night driving. Not talking about "selective yellow" like French cars. "Whiter light" means there is more blue component which strains the eye at night... |
