They are kinda like a hot love affair..short-lived but way hotter than normal?

You may be right but I still wouldn't know as I drive only about 10-15 thousand kilometers a year... so for me it has worked great so far.
Sylvania and Osram are the same company.
Tiger is right about the ones rated "brighter than normal" for a given wattage burning out faster.
Tip: when you go to buy bulbs, Sylvania is pretty much the main choice in the FLAPS.
However you can read on the metal part of the bulbs where they were made - the ones made in Germany are better quality than the ones made in USA or elsewhere.

Not fully sold, maybe if expecting too much? seem to think the hid's in my bmw and vw are same or better? they have a good colour and cutoff with a nice flare up to the right like the old h4 hellas (like an "E code" light, DOT and E are stamped on the lens), was just expecting brighter. Night shots seen online are tough because cameras don't see the same as our eyes.
I have the #3, which I purchased from Amazon for around $85 and they I find them very ugly, but they are a huge improvement over the stock sealed headlights. I didn't care much about how ugly they look because you never see the headlights until night and when they are on, you cant see the lens, and the lighting is amazing.

#3 has a terrible beam pattern. I can't tell you how many Jeep's pass me at night that blind the hell out of me. Very obnoxious.
Look at the cutoff and wide bright spread of #4. No hot spots either. That is the ideal light. I need those
I have read through this thread several times and can’t find where #4 can be sourced. Also, how much do they cost? I like the light pattern of #4 the best. The cut off looks like it is the best of all of them.

Any chance you've tried Truklite's and they just didn't make the post? I've been looking at them for the Jeep for about 2 years and they've got my vote from researching LED's about a year ago. They've also got a pretty clean look, not quite traditional, but not the space bug look of the JW Speakers or others.
