Default Sanity Check: Air intake Manifold

Hi folks

Quick sanity check. Are there any significant differences in the Air intake manifold casting between early and late model 944?
I can see that there are some subtle changes on the outside of the casting between the two but are there any other changes between late and early that would prevent a direct swap?
Aiming to swap a late model (87) manifold with an early model (84)

Cheers

They use different idle stabilizers - I don't know if that makes the nipples different. I don't think the early one has the threaded hole for the cruise control cable bracket, either.

most early manifolds are the same as the late ones.
the very early 82/83 ones may not have had the cruise control boss but they also had one of the 2 large "vacuum ports" in a different location/angle than the later ones. not a big deal to fix though.

also, some 924S manifolds have a weird little sensor thing mounted on the intake manifold next to the filler cap.

Thanks for the replies gents.
I'll be sure to check the idle stabilizer valve before i do the swap (still some time off yet).
I don't mind too much about cruise control as i don't have it on the late model car

Thanks again

Honestly? Ive got a nice polished(ish) air intake manifold sitting spare but its from an early car, thought it might look nice in place of the original

Nice to see you on Rennlist, and I've probably already seen you on the road sometimes, as I seldom miss noticing a 944. For most Kiwis here, this mega-thread is a main watering hole:
