Default 914 seats in a 944?

I've seen some talk about different seat swaps but I have t seen any mention of 914 seats. Do the 914 rails bolt up in the same way as the 944 seats?

Now before you jump on me, I'm not yet sure if I would like the look or the feel but I think they would help two issues for me. The first is, my daughters car seat fits pretty well behind my seat but she would appreciate any additional centimeters a thinner seat would provide. Second, and corollary is that the 914 seats sit a bit lower and because I'm probably a little farther forward because my daughter rides behind me, my head is also a little closer to the roof, so being down a bit would be nice. Unfortunately my wife is too tall for my daughter to ride on the passenger side, and it's fun to pile the fam damn into the car, so I'm going to keep trying to make it work.

Someone has some 914 seats for sale near me for very cheap, so I could just try it out but thought if they are a simple plug/play it would make my decision to try them easier.

I would love to know this as well, also have cheap 914 seats locally but don't know how I'd fit them in.
I need all the headroom I can get.

No, 914 seats are completely different. The rail is more integral with the fiberglass seat shell, and they only bolt to the car in the back on a little hinge. Then the front is supported in the middle by the fingers of a large comb (and there's a little key that locks between the fingers to adjust the tilt of the seat.

They're very light weight, but not as supportive as 944 seats.

I put a set of Mazda RX-8 in my '84 944..... (Sorry purists! I Got 'em on the cheap.... In nice shape) I have read that MX-3 seats are a direct drop in, but on my car the RX-8 seat rail was about 1" too wide, so I had a buddy drill and tap a spacer of 1/4" bar stock.... Works fine!

Just put a set of MOMO, Recaro or Sparco race seats in.

Hard to find a "race seat" that doesn't look like s*** in a street car though.

Well, 914 seats will look much worse, too small. I have SRDs in my 87, had Sparcos in the 85 street legal track car, looked fine

We have a sparco in our race car that I wouldn't mind in a 944 on the street, but thats just me. I like the RX8 seats though.
