944 Values

Sitting too long with out much use, I would not trust them. Thats way too much for an auto, they are not very desirable anyway, no body is going to buy it at that price IMO.

10 years old?! All items mentioned above needs replacing, and automatic!!! 4k. Up to 5 if it is cherry but plan on keeping it because no one wants a dog automatic. Just my 2 cents.

Three Wheelin'
I'm actually looking to buy an automatic 924 in the near future. I owned a 924NA, three turbos and now i'm looking for an early automatic for the days i dont feel like shifting and i dont need to be super quick.

Thats true, not quick compared to probably a lot of cars in different situations...but then again you wont even be quick in a 300hp 951 compared to a lot of cars in different situations.
I've learned that quick enough to make me enjoy the car is enough. I'm not doing track days or racing of any kind so i dont get depressed when more powerfull cars pass me.
I do some road driving and for that, even that automatic 924 is quick enough.
And since i'm in Europe, the 924 NA has 125HP so thats not too bad even today.
I've got a cool article of how to modify the automatic transmision so it shifts faster and crisper so i'm probably going to do that sometime in the future.

The whole point of 944 and 928 is about the old classic feel and fun. With an auto, the fun is limited and the car feels slower.
I drove an auto 928 and it felt slower and heavy compare to my 944 stick.
If it is an auto, I would sure hope you like it. There are clean 944 stick for around $8-12k but they usually are 100-120k mi cars.

The 928 isn't a track car. It has oiling difficulties that can be corrected but it doesn't have the racing support the 944 has; Porsche never raced the 928 and have said on many occasions the car wasn't designed for the track. That's why I race the 944. High performance parts are readily available and there's a tremendous amount of experience and skill that's gone into the platform.
I'd never consider an automatic 944. I'd never consider a manual 928. If you're looking for a high performance street automatic, you can't go wrong with a 928. Mr. Natural sez "use the right tool for the job!"

Seems way too high for an auto.
I'm interested where this one ends up

To the OP: There was a local dark blue on black late '87 (?) 944 automatic that, at least from pictures, looked essentially spotless and was listed for $8k CAD about a year or so ago. Low-ish kms. Only recently did they remove that ad. It sat for essentially the whole year on craigslist. Take that how you want... I wouldn't however disagree with what others have also said - it's really up to you to decide if it's worth whatever its worth. If that particular one is special to you or has some sort of interesting story then no reason not to if you can swing it!

Well, I passed on that 944, but a 2008 Hummer H3 Alpha with the rare 5.3 V8 fell into my lap thanks to a cousin who sold to me for what Carmax offered her. Let's just say the price was just too good to pass up! Thus, I've now got the Jeep, Hummer (extra car), the Mach 1, and a dedicated work vehicle. I'm now seriously thinking about adding a 928 to join the Mustang as the other classic. I'll keep you posted on that one probably with another thread. Thanks for the helpful insight!
