Default RE-11 work around

I don't know if anyone else has been trying to buy RE-11' in 225/50/16 sizes, but they're back-ordered throughout North America. I had already bought and mounted 205/55/16's on my spare set of rims (fronts) so I've been stuck waiting for 2 months because I didn't want to mix tires.

I finally grew impatient enough because Bridgestone still hasn't planned more production and bought 245/45/16's for the rears. My car is very low and I haven't rolled the fenders (yet) so here is my official hope that they fit as I've pretty well worn out the RE760's on my other set.

It's an 87 turbo with 8" Carrera thin spokes (ET52?); any experience or predictions? Too much of a stagger from 205's to 245's?

outside of the mega understeer factor you'll be fine i think. I had 225/255 17's on my s2 for a while and had no fit issues.

Hopefully I'll be able to adjust out some under steer with the sway bars to compensate if it's too much. Currently with 205/225 f/r there is noticeable oversteer when cooking on high.

It's not an ideal situation but at least it'll get me through to when tire rack gets stock.

Why not the RE-71s?

I've run the 71Rs on my S (a borrowed set) and wasn't pleased with the noise and based on what I've heard from friends with them, the mileage is significantly less than the 11's. I'm fitting the new rolling stock as we speak and so far I don't think there will be any issues with clearance.

I have 245/45R-16 on 16"x 8" early off set rims x4, and love them (second set), no problems with rubbing.

Well it seems like fitment and handling aren't an issue, at least not at the limit on the street. I'll be interested to see the difference on track as the car used to spin the tires (and wiggle left) under hard acceleration in second and third. So far I'm very pleased that there is sufficient clearance at my really lowered height.

They're 7/8" Carrera thin spokes with 205/55/16 and 245/45/16 RE-11's.
