Got the Krikit today
Got it NAPA for $10.50. We can start using this for the timing belt party this Sunday.
It says "the minimum tension for v-belt should be 50 lbs". Don't our 944's require 40 lbs ? Does our timing and balance shaft belts qualify for "V-Belts" ?

No, they don't. V-belts are just that, belts in a wedge or v shape. Ours are toothed belts, and many cars run serpentine belts. V-belts can be found on older cars mostly, though some newer cars may have them.

esanmiguel - i purchased the same thing from texas porsche parts, and the insert they included says 28 lbs for the balance shaft belt and 40 lbs for a new timing belt (35 lbs for a used timing belt)

I just bought mine today as well, for $10.67, belt changes on my vacation next week! From what I have read on here it is 40lbs for a new T-belt, and 35lbs for a broken-in T-belt. The balance shaft belt is 28lbs.

Oh, and if you want you can do a search in the archives for a comparison one guy did between the Porsche tool, the Kriket, and the Blazack. I picked up a Kriket last spring and it's done the job so far.

Hey Joseph I really like the white faced gauges! They really modernize and dress up the interior versus the old yellow font and black faced dials. I would do it all again, but opening up the gauges like an old Russian ammo box kinda sucks!
Back to my belt change.
