Door Chime - Relay out and still Dinging
So with the key in the ignition and the door ajar the chime is driving me nuts. I did a quick search to seeing if pulling the relay would be okay to do to fix this (stop the chime) and appears that it is. I popped the hood, found the really slot and realized that is was already out.... My question is, I thought with the relay out the chime would be disabled, apparently not, any idea if I need to replace it or what to do to make the dinging stop?

Which relay did you remove? You must have pulled the wrong one. It's physically impossible for it to be chiming with the relay removed since the relay IS the chimer.

Appreciate the reply. Just to note, i did not actually temove the relay as it was already gone, assume PO removed it. The slot is G8, is that not right? Let me try and attached a couple of pics.

Now I am just confused That worked but is in slot G16 which, per the pic above, is labeled catalytic convertor warn. G8 is shown as warning buzzer? Does that make sense and I am just missing something here?
Appreciate the help!

It's possible that someone put the wrong relay in that slot. I.e. the relay for the cat relay is genuinely supposed to be active, but since the wrong relay is installed, it's making the chime noise. Which is what that relay is designed to do when active.

Interesting, the chime seemed to work only as it should, i.e. it was not always on, just when the door was open. Could it be possible that somehow the box is mislabeled or has been changed? If so, any danger in not have the catalytic warning relay?

There are so many unneeded electrical nannies on these cars, do you think you need a cat warning? I mean i dont know, maybe if it was a lion or a tiger but a house hold cat....
In any case, my brain gizmo works OK so I don't see a need for ANY warning from the car.

The lid only goes on one way and the slots on the diagram are labeled as well as the slots for the relays are labeled so rules out looking at it upside down or something. Additionally, making this more strange, the other relays, from what I can tell, go to the associated label. This is pretty strange...

Can I hijack just a little bit: related to door chime and interior lights.
My door chime works. Sometimes when the key is out. No idea about that.
So, I assume that my door position switch works. However, my dome light does not go on when the doors are opened. regardless of the switch position (on the dome light; one position is On, center OFF, and one should be conditional for door open). the two non-OFF positions on the dome light are just full on at all times.
I would like to wire in LED strip lights in the footwells so that they work like modern cars when doors are open and shut off on door close. I assume I can still use my door position switches. Has anyone wired in interior aux lights, if so how?

OP: Regarding the dinging... I don't have the answer for you, but have seen the WILDEST WEIRDEST non-sensical things happen with electrical items when the device doesn't have a good GROUND; because then the device looks for a ground through the positive circuit... and that's when irregular behaviour occurs. Best of luck! Note: When I suspect a bad ground I will run a lead wire from the battery negative (or good chassis connection) to the point of the relay or device, then see if it behaves properly. Its a quick way to see if it's a ground issue.
